John is the founder and constitutional monarch MONARCHY? of the Cheeseburgers. He grew up in tiny Stayton, Oregon, a self-described "piano playing nerd". He taught himself guitar and decided he could sing as a teenager. He dropped out of the U of O School of Music to pursue a career of sorts as a professional musician.

He played with Salty Dog, Wheatfield, Ron Lloyd and others all over the western U.S., then in 1983 founded the Valley Boys, with whom he still plays.

He put an ad for musicians to form a Buffett cover band in the newspaper in 2001 and the Cheeseburgers were born.

John also teaches guitar and piano during the week (call 541-729-9928 for info)and plays with the West Side Blues Band on Thursdays (at the Overtime!) He has no current plans to find a more realistic career.
